Learn More About L. Craig Johnson

Craig was born and raised in Manchester, Tennessee, where he currently still resides serving the community. After attending Middle Tennessee State University and obtaining his bachelor's degree in political science in 1986, he went on to attend the University of Tennessee School of Law and obtained his law degree in 1990. He practiced law as a licensed attorney and was elected a Circuit Judge in the 14th Judicial District of the State of Tennessee in 1998, where he presided over felony trials and civil jury trials until his recent retirement. He is also a graduate of the National Judicial Academy and holds a Master’s of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He earned his officer’s commission through ROTC in 1985  His military education includes the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the Engineer Officer's Basic and Advanced Course. Craig is a combat veteran of Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom where he earned the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. He is the former Commanding General of the Tennessee State Guard.
